The Galiceño Horse Registry, Inc. is established to register and promote Galiceño Horses, to maintain records of Galiceño Horses, to record lineages, to provide information on the breed, to aid in finding stud services, to assist interested parties to buy and sell Galiceño Horses,
The Galiceño Horse Registry, Inc., shall
1. Maintain and preserve the Registry.
2. Maintain the Galiceño Breed Standard.
3. Maintain a website.
4. Assist in matters relating to the breeding, exhibition, promotion, and improvements of the Galiceño horse.
5. Educate the public on the unique qualities of the Galiceño horse and thus promote the breed.
Standards:

Solid Colors, Duns, Roans; No pinto or Appaloosa patterns
Ears of medium size, tips pointed inward
Refined head. Jowls medium.
Neck slightly arched.
Moderate withers.
Back short and straight.
Croup not level, sloping slightly.
Tail set moderately high
Body well muscled
Rear legs slightly more under horse than other breeds
Shoulders slope.
Chest is narrow to medium width, legs form an inverted V-shape with chest
Chestnuts small or absent
Motion is quick; walk is easy with long strides; Trot is well balanced; Natural Running Walk is very fast and ground covering.
Registration
To be considered for registration, a horse must have documentation that both Sire and Dam are Galiceño horses. Such documentation can be registration of the Sire and Dam with the Galiceño Horse Registry, the Galiceño Horse Breeders Association, or inspection and DNA test results that confirms purity of a Galiceño heritage. Horses from anywhere in the world are eligible.

A fee of $25.00 US will cover registration costs and subsequent transfers.
Include in the application the following information:
First and second choice for the name of the horse to be registered.
Sex (Stallion, Mare, Gelding)
Date of foaling.
If exact date is unknown, provide the year. The date will be then be recorded as January 1 of that year.
Name of Sire and Dam; Names of Sire’s Sire and Dam; Names of Dam’s Sire and Dam; All additional lineage names if known.

Address (Both physical address and email address)
Four photographs of the horse: Right side and Left side full profile, Head on view, Posterior view. These photographs can be mailed as prints or sent digitally. They will be included on the Registration Certificate.
List any distinguishing markings such as brands or scars that may not be visible in the photographs.
Transfer of Registration
Mail or email a request for transfer. Provide the horse’s name and registration number, original owner’s name and the name and address of the person(s) to whom the transfer shall be registered. A new registration certificate will be sent to the transferee. There is no fee for this service.
Appendix listing
A horse whose lineage is 50% or more Galiceño can be registered as an Appendix Galiceño. DNA tests results or registration documentation must be provided in order to be considered in this registry category.
